FAQ FAQ HOME

What is online schooling and why should I choose Deway School?

Online schooling allows students to attend classes via the internet, offering flexibility and access to a wide range of courses. Deway School stands out due to its smaller class sizes and lower student-teacher ratio compared to many state online schools. This allows for more personalized attention and the ability to meet individual family needs. Parents can also be more involved in the learning process. Deway School offers personalized distance learning paths, enabling students to start pursuing their careers from a younger age.

How are grades and transcripts issued?

Courses at Deway School contain both computer-assessed sections (like multiple-choice quizzes and tests) and teacher-graded sections (assignments, labs, essays, etc.). The instructor of record issues a final grade upon course completion, and the school then issues the transcript to the student.

What are the graduation requirements at Deway School and why are they important?

To graduate from Deway School, students must:

  1. Complete a minimum of one academic year of coursework at our school (typically 5-6 two-semester courses)

  2. Fulfill all UC A-G course requirements

These requirements ensure our students receive a comprehensive college preparatory education while maintaining academic integrity.

Who is the person that actually grades the student’s work?

The teacher-assessed sections are graded by the assigned course instructor. This instructor is also available to assist students with content-related questions.

When students have questions, what do they do and how long does it take for an answer? Students can contact their teacher of record through the platform's messaging system. Teachers typically respond quickly, but it may take up to one business day.

How does a student get credits transferred to his/her home school?

Part-time students identify their home school at enrollment, and a transcript of the course grade is sent there. It is the student's responsibility to ensure in advance that their home school will accept the transfer grade.

Can any student take any course?

Yes, students are free to take any course. This can be for preparation for future courses, final exams, remediation of a failing grade, or grade improvement. However, it's crucial to select the correct subject and course, especially if the class is taken for credit. Students must verify in advance that their home school will accept the transfer grade.
